  • We make all things chocolate from scratch. This means we craft our chocolate from the cocoa bean into stoneground chocolate. With this chocolate, we make your favourite blocks and baked goods!

Since we are small batch, we can focus on making sure each bite is memorable whether you try our hot chocolate oat milk block, raspberry ganache truffles or chocolate basque cheesecake you’ll be blown away.

  • All of our chocolate blocks are shipped via Couriers Please or Australia Post.

  • Our chocolate is made from scratch. This means we start with the cocoa bean and process it into the smooth chocolate that we know and love.

    How is chocolate made?

There is a long process that we undergo to get to our final product and here’s a brief outline of this craft process.

    1. Sorting and roasting the beans

    2. Crushing the cocoa beans

    3. Winnowing the husk away from the cocoa nibs*

    4. Stone grinding for up to 36 hours

    5. Temper and mould the chocolate into blocks OR use it for our cakes

*We save the husk waste for distilleries and other projects as we want to be low waste!

  • Living Koko is our current supplier of ethically sourced cocoa beans. We love Living Koko as they are committed to slave free trading, food sovereignty and support over 400 Samoan plot farmers through their fair trade. We currently have them roasting the cocoa beans for us - taking a step out of the time-consuming process!

The beans that we currently source are from Savai’i, Samoa.

  • The cocoa industry has been running rampant to keep up with the high global demand for chocolate. In order to maintain the supply to meet our demand, it has made cost-cuts elsewhere; in this case at the expense of lives, communities, and the environment. It has caused child slavery, child labour, exploitation, deforestation, poisoning due to hazardous chemical use, to name a few.

But we don’t want to put a bad taste in your mouth… It’s not all bad news. Artisan chocolate crafters, like us, are passionate about sourcing cocoa from suppliers who can provide transparency into the trade and the impacts on their community.

Ethical and sustainable trade is paramount for our craft as without cocoa communities continuing their farming, fermenting and drying, there is no chocolate: no Planet Cocoa.

  • As a small business, we feel we have a responsibility in what packaging we choose and our impact on the environment and resources.

Our chocolates are wrapped in kerbside recyclable materials and our shipping boxes are all recyclable or reusable!

In the process of crafting chocolate from the cocoa bean, we incur 20% husk waste from seperating the inner nib from the outer husk. We are collaborating with local businesses and research labs to reduce our waste impact.

  • Planet Cocoa products are all made in Australia by a female founded team from locally and ethically sourced ingredients.

We research our ingredients and prefer to use locally Australian grown ingredients where possible. See the following list of our current suppliers!
