What is Chocolate Made From?

Our Bean to Bar Chocolate is made from Cocoa Beans.

Beans? Yes! Chocolate, an everyday treat beloved worldwide, originates from cocoa beans. We wouldn’t have chocolate if it wasn’t for the work that goes behind the scenes in harvesting cacao tree pods, fermenting the beans, drying, and roasting them before they are ground into chocolate.

Sugar sweetens this intense mixture of cocoa - at Planet Cocoa we use panela sugar or raw sugar. Dark chocolate enthusiasts enjoy percentages that range between 60-90%, reveling in its rich purity, while milk and white chocolate lovers love the addition of ingredients like cocoa butter, vanilla, milk solids, creating a creamier taste. At Planet Cocoa, we make an oat milk chocolate which is made with whole organic oats and the addition of organic coconut milk powder for an irresistable creamy texture. Most won’t notice the dairy missing in our dairy free and vegan friendly oat milk chocolate flavours!

Each step in this chocolate craft journey, from bean to bar, contributes to the irresistible flavour and textures we associate with chocolate.
